193 Arriving Refugees
Need Your Help; Here’s How To Donate
Church World Service and Episcopal
Migration Ministries have informed the local Refugee Resettlement Office that
it will be receiving 193 refugees between now and Fall 2007. Most of these refugees
will be Burmese and Burundian and will be in addition to the normal 12 Cubans
arriving each month.
Apartments for these families are
entirely furnished through donations. If you have items to donate please call
the Center for New Americans at 474-1261 Ext. 205 and leave a message for
Laura, the Warehouse Manager. She will contact you as to the best way to get
your items to the refugees. If you have large items she will be able to pick
them up. Smaller items can be dropped at the Center for New Americans at the
corner of Butternut and Prospect Aves (above the HSBC bank).
Currently
there is a need for:
pots and pans microwaves dressers
kitchen tables & chairs TVs rice cookers
beds (not king, please) electric
fans lamps
adult bicycles (especially small) towels
Welcoming strangers is a way of living out our faith and
very much needed as these 193 arrive in our community.
