2007 Church World Service

Blanket Sunday and Tools of Hope Program

During the month of February, when thoughts turn to love, we collected our annual Blanket Sunday and Tools of Hope offering to share God’s love with God’s children who have been victims of natural disasters, wars, and poverty.  Many, many thanks to the generous boys and girls who gave their January and February Church School offerings to “jump start” the United Church’s efforts on behalf of brothers and sisters in need at home and around the world.  Our combined gifts totaled $460 which is equal to 92 blankets or about 12% of a well for an entire village in a developing nation.  Though each of our individual gifts may seem small, with God’s help, they all add up to make a major difference in many individual lives.                                                                                                     Submitted by Barbara Johnson

Calling All Cooks - -

Our Healing Meals Ministry Needs You

In past years, and especially this past spring, many members of our United Church family have been blessed with Healing Meals during times of illness, surgery, or bereavement.  At various times we have had quite a number of faithful cooks turning out multiple wonderful meals.  We are hoping to increase our numbers so that there can be a greater sharing of the work and joy involved in this thoroughly appreciated ministry.  We want to stress that when you add your name to the list, this by no means obligates you to cook each time.  This is just an indication of your willingness to be called upon.  When it comes to Healing Meals there is no such thing as “too many cooks in the kitchen”!   If you would like to be included in this very popular group of people, please call or email the church office (637-3186 – ucf@twcny.rr.com) or Barbara Johnson (682-2042 – bjmitten@twcny.rr.com).  Thank you to all our cooks – past, present, and future!

HARVEST FUNDRAISER

Recalling the days of the annual Farmers' Market at UCF, a garden-based fundraiser is planned for Saturday, September 8, to continue Sunday morning (9/9) after service.

Included for sale will be produce, products of that produce--pies, breads, jams and jellies, applesauce, quiches, tomato sauce...plants and cuttings, dried flowers, crafts...be creative!

Tend those gardens, create those offerings, and plan on being a part of UCF's Welcome Back week-end!
